Basics

I’m a major packing planner from way back. I usually over-pack but I was able to par it down last night to some of the basics and inter-changeable essentials. Lots of ironing and strategic packing completed and the bags are almost ready to go. In high school my best friend Anna and I watched the romantic comedy “French Kiss” starring Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. So cheesy, I know! But in the film, Meg Ryan’s character is stranded in France with only 1 outfit (I can’t remember what happens to her bags).

Anna and I used to talk about how clever the fashion was in this film. I loved how she reworked three basics into multiple outfits. She only had a white blouse, basic jeans, a navy blazer and a wool sweater. She wears oxfords. While traveling you really do have to take the basics and create multiple outfits. I created a polyvore of some of my basics packed and ready to go.

Such a great post. Love the polyvore, and French Kiss reference. That’s one of my favorite go-to movies, ever. The tape is so worn and wobbly when it plays now because I think I’ve watched it so much!Have fun!
